A human life, in a pop song

I wanted to make an easy-to-enjoy song with male vocals. That led to the idea of telling a human life through an accessible pop song.

The visuals take their cue from old NES-era games. I wanted to show another kind of expression that AI can create, with a little nostalgia in the mix.

From childhood through adulthood and growing older, the video follows a life with the feeling of looking at a nostalgic game.

Finding the right movement with Hailuo

The artwork looks simple, but I found this style surprisingly tricky. With Vidu and Midjourney, the motion could become too smooth for this particular piece.

So I used Hailuo quite a lot. It felt like the best match for natural movement that still preserved this visual style. I choose tools differently from one project to the next.

A hundred years isn't long. Do what you want to do.

That's the thought I wanted the song to carry: a hundred years isn't long, so do the things you want to do. I hope it comes through alongside the nostalgic visuals.

The responses meant a lot

For this one, I deliberately moved away from trying to make something viral. It wasn't a huge hit, but I'm personally very fond of it.

What made me especially happy was the response from people who regularly create with AI. Having them appreciate it—including the difficulty of animating this style—was really encouraging.
